About The Position

Network visualization applications are usually constrained to a particular medium (e.g., Ethernet) or vendor (e.g., Mellanox), and frequently require the administrator to relinquish configuration management to the application in order to function. Furthermore, a realized graph visualization is not guaranteed to not properly reflect the topology on which a network is built. VANTAGE is intended as an aid for network administrators, providing (1) a means to visualize the graph of an at-large facility network spanning multiple topologies and technologies and (2) hooks to query link status between nodes (both switches and hosts). A modular design will allow the application to assemble visualizations with routines specific to each topology and technology.
