Research Affiliate I (Post Doctoral)
About The Position
Responsibilities The Research Affiliate I will be mentored by and work under the guidance of a Principal Investigator to develop their post-doctoral skill set. The incumbent will develop and validate high-resolution mass spectrometric methods for the analysis of ultra-trace levels of organic chemicals in human and environmental specimens; perform mass spectrometric data analysis; and prepare project reports and manuscripts for publication. The Research Affiliate I will also be responsible for the operation and troubleshooting of LC-MS/MS and gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) instruments. This position will be part of a dynamic team serving the Wadsworth Center’s mission in the New York State Department of Health’s efforts to protect and promote the health of New York’s citizens. Requirements
- PhD in natural sciences, environmental science and engineering, or an appropriate field
- Compliance with funding requirements such as time and effort reporting, grant deliverables, and contract deliverables, is required.
- The selected candidate must reside within a reasonable commuting distance of the official work location specified in the job posting and must also be located in or willing to relocate to one of the following states: New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Vermont, or Massachusetts, prior to hire.
Nice To Haves
- Experience in the analysis of microplastics in environmental specimens using py-GC–MS.
- Experience in the analysis of plastic additives in human and environmental specimens using LC-MS/MS.
- Experience in development and validation of GC-MS and LC-MS/MS methods for microplastics and plastic additives.
- Experience authoring publications for peer-reviewed journals.
