About The Position

The Department of Civil Engineering in the College of Engineering, at the University of Texas at Arlington, invites applications for a Post Doctoral Research Associate who will be working in the areas of improving forecasts of weather, climate and snowpack, and testing experimental Forecast-Informed Reservoir Operation in the Hydrometeorology Research Group. In accordance with USCIS regulations, successful applicants must be legally able to accept work in the United States. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa at this time.

Requirements

  • PhD in Hydrology, Meteorology, Climate Science or a related field.
  • Experience in developing and applying advanced parametric/machine learning postprocessing techniques, producing probabilistic forecasts of hydrometeorological variables, and parallel computing.
  • Proficiency in at least two of the following languages: C, Python, Fortran, R.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with developing and running high-fidelity earth system/weather models.
  • A track record of publications in well recognized journals.
