This position has a base compensation range of $80,000.00 to $100,000.00. Salary determination considers your skills, experience, job location, internal pay equity and job architecture. Hellmann Worldwide Logistics regularly reviews our pay ranges against industry standards to ensure fairness. The incumbent will be a team member of the Domestic Project Operations and will be responsible for supporting projects which consist of primarily Drayage & Trucking Operations with functional oversight of project business containing, Full Truck Loads and Temporary Warehousing for Key Customers from our Renewable Energy Vertical. Responsible for various tasks associated with procurement and operations (rate procurement, capacity planning, execution, financial management, and invoicing), in accordance with Hellmann policies and procedures. The incumbent will interact with regional stations/branches within North America, Finance, Pricing, Sales, and other various functions relating to North American drayage activities. In addition, there is frequent communication.

Requirements

  • Associate’s Degree (A.A.) from a two-year college or equivalent combination of education and work experience will be considered in lieu of educational requirement
  • Previous experience in a team leader or supervisory role is required to handle a wide variety of commodities.
  • Two to Five years’ experience in intermodal/drayage operations or similar preferred.
  • One to three years’ experience in seafreight operations required.
  • Solid understanding of processes and systems; knowledge and use of Cargowise, Outlook, and Business Objects is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of GDP regulations and proficiency in logistics software.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English in order to present information to customers, management, and subordinates in a professional setting
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as freight rates, discounts, and other percentages
  • Analytical skills / problem-solving ability
  • Coaching skills – able to train, coach, and develop subordinates
  • Exceptional communication and cooperative skills required
  • Must be self-motivated, seek opportunities, and be open to new approaches and ideas

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of trucking operations is a plus.
  • Prior experience communicating with trucking companies and warehouses is a plus.
  • Proficient in U.S. and world geography, shipping documentation, and Incoterms preferred airport codes.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures Road product operations are compliant with internal HWL policies and applicable regulatory agencies.
  • Manage and ensure correct and timely financial reporting for customers and Hellmann.
  • Monitor productivity to ensure operational efficiencies
  • Ensure optimal file management within the operational team, aligned with product expectations.
  • Monitor team for continuous process improvement within operations.
  • Plans for and utilizes the most optimum routing of cargo based on client needs.
  • Ensures clients, Hellmann partners, or other required parties are kept fully informed of transport arrangements and status on a regular basis, educating clients where necessary to foster the relationship.
  • Receives transport orders from Customers and Input into our Transportation System.
  • Communicates as required with applicable parties to ensure service requirements are achieved.
  • Serves as liaison with sales personnel to ensure quality services are achieved & maintained.
  • Works with Product to obtain and negotiate the most favorable buying rates with approved vendors.
  • Processes, issues, distributes, and/or dispatches all required documentation to all applicable parties in a time frame consistent with service needs & company policy.
  • Prepares all documents necessary to complete customs clearance process.
  • Issues statistical reports as required.
  • Receives rate requests and prepares and issues rate quotations externally and internally as required.
  • Provides advice to clients concerning but not limited to; terms of delivery and payment, transport alternatives, or other matters affecting client needs.
  • Keeps clients informed and maintains knowledge of market trends and changes in service options.
  • Check with Client regularly to monitor their satisfaction level.
  • Check clients’ credit status prior to arranging transport.
  • Ensures accurate distribution of costs to promote the same in projected gross profits.
  • Approves timely and accurate vendor invoices.
  • Harmonizes and implements department procedures to maximize productivity.
  • Distributes workload within the department to enhance efficiency and productivity.
  • Trains new and existing staff.
  • Handles internal and external disputes.
  • Ensures maximum file profitability via control of vendor costs and maximum net sales.
  • Ensures timely invoicing of files within the department as per company guidelines.
  • Monitors and takes necessary corrective action on staff performance and prepares yearly performance evaluations
  • Compliance Management: Ensure all transportation activities comply with GDP regulations and company policies.
  • Temperature Control: Oversee the implementation and monitoring of temperature-controlled logistics to maintain product integrity.
  • Develop and maintain a Quality Management System (QMS) to ensure consistent and reliable service.
  • Identify and mitigate risks associated with the transportation of pharmaceuticals.
  • Provide training to staff on GDP requirements and best practices in the Road Freight operation.
  • Maintain accurate records of all transportation activities, including temperature logs, shipping manifests, and incident reports.
  • Prepare for and participate in internal and external audits to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Work closely with other departments, including warehousing and customer service, to ensure seamless operations.
  • Provides leadership and guidance to department staff.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
