About The Position

The Department of Mechanical Engineering is recruiting a non-tenure-track, renewable contract position at the rank of Teaching Assistant Professor. Exceptional applicants are sought that have a passion for teaching and curriculum development across the field of mechanical engineering. The Department of Mechanical Engineering at The University of Alabama (https://me.eng.ua.edu/) invites applications for non-tenure-track, renewable contract faculty positions across all domains relevant to mechanical engineering. Primary duties of the successful candidate will include teaching in core lecture classes, unit operations laboratory and/or senior design courses, as well as appropriate service roles in the department.

Requirements

Applicants must have a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering or a closely related field from an accredited institution by the date of appointment

Experience in robotics and AI methods applied to optimization of control systems
Experience in smart manufacturing systems, including, Industrial Internet of Things, Industry 4.0, CAD/CAM, metrology and systems optimization
