About The Position

At PGE, the Remote Sensing Analyst provides enterprise remote sensing expertise through the acquisition, processing, interpretation, and transformation of remotely sensed data from aerial, satellite and UAS platforms into enterprise geospatial intelligence that supports operational, regulatory, and strategic decision‑making. This role requires expanded professional‑level knowledge and experience, continuing to acquire higher‑level knowledge and skills, and expanding on high‑level knowledge of the company, processes and customers. The analyst solves a range of more complex problems, analyzes possible solutions using advanced knowledge and applying protocols, operates independently, and receives only a moderate level of guidance and direction. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in geography, geomatics, computer science, engineering, or other related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Typically two or more years in related field.
  • FAA Part 107 certification.
  • Intermediate knowledge of systems used in department.
  • Advanced knowledge of processing software, data, and products.
  • Working knowledge of business‑unit operating processes.
  • Intermediate knowledge of data classification software and processes.
  • Working knowledge of utility system.
  • Working knowledge of drone systems and data acquisition sensors.
  • Intermediate skills in customer focus.

Responsibilities

  • Plans and executes remote sensing data acquisition efforts.
  • Selects appropriate platforms, sensors, and collection methods based on business needs.
  • Processes and validates imagery to ensure accuracy and compliance with standards.
  • Analyzes multi‑source imagery and sensor data.
  • Recommends interpretation methodologies and ensures outputs align with operational objectives.
  • Develops and maintains department standards.
  • Identifies and implements process improvements.
  • Develops and administers remote sensing data governance programs.
  • Researches and resolves production issues.
  • Evaluates emerging technologies and recommends enhancements to improve data quality and efficiency.
  • Ensures compliance with FAA and safety standards where applicable.
  • Ensures adherence to data governance standards.
  • Implements quality control processes and resolves data integrity issues.
  • Consults with stakeholders to assess data requirements and recommend appropriate remote sensing solutions.
  • Prioritizes work to meet operational demands.
  • Assisting with storms or other Company emergencies is a part of all positions at Portland General Electric.
