About The Position

The Relief Supervisor manages the operation of the stores to achieve maximum sales performance during scheduled shifts. This role involves ensuring adequate staffing, training new employees, maintaining proper merchandising and cleanliness, and managing cash register reserves. The supervisor also assists cashiers, implements customer service programs, provides training and feedback to employees and community service workers, and helps limit store injuries by providing safety guidelines and reporting concerns. They are responsible for daily reports on crew and furniture department performance, suggesting disciplinary actions, maintaining attendance records, and ensuring compliance with banking and cash handling guidelines. The supervisor also ensures shopping carts are in the store at closing, follows closing procedures for store security, and prepares the production room for the next shift by ensuring dropped-off donations are inside the store.

Responsibilities

  • Achieves maximum sales performance by ensuring the store is adequately staffed.
  • Ensures new employees are trained.
  • Ensures the store is properly merchandised and is clean.
  • Ensures cash registers have adequate change reserves.
  • Assists the cashier when needed.
  • Implements all aspects of the customer service program.
  • Provides training by answering questions, giving directions, and offering feedback about task performance to employees and community service workers.
  • Assists in limiting store injuries by providing safety guidelines to employees, coaching employees about safety issues, identifying and promptly reporting safety concerns to the store manager.
  • Daily reports on performance of the assigned crew and furniture department.
  • Suggests disciplinary actions and terminations to the store manager.
  • Maintains daily employee attendance records in assigned departments and makes employees aware of issues.
  • Implements Operations Manual guidelines for banking and cash handling to ensure accuracy and accountability.
  • Ensures all shopping carts are in the store at closing.
  • Follows closing procedures in the Operations Manual to ensure the store is secured at the close of each business day.
  • Prepares the production room for the next shift by ensuring that dropped off donations are inside store.
  • Reports to the store manager or supervisor.
  • Gives direction to store employees during assigned shifts.
