About The Position

The Supervisor – Sales Relief is responsible for overseeing customer business relationships and supervising Merchandisers/distribution team members. This role ensures accuracy of outlet orders, identifies selling opportunities, and works to achieve monthly and yearly sales goals effectively. A high degree of flexibility is required to cover open Supervisor – Sales needs. Key duties include generating daily product orders, ensuring in-stock conditions, providing guidance to team members, executing the picture of success, and fostering positive customer relationships with superior service. The supervisor will also provide feedback on competitive threats, coordinate sales activities for marketing initiatives and new product introductions, ensure merchandising and brand standards are met, and review business results with customers to align on key initiatives. The position is accountable for achieving key business goals such as volume, revenue, margin, share, and execution targets, and involves account planning, managing customer lists, merchandising stores, leading customer calls, selling key initiatives, and assisting in contract negotiations.

Requirements

  • Minimum age 18 years old
  • Valid driver’s license required and obligation to maintain compliance with UNITED fleet policy

  • Regular and prompt attendance is an essential function of the job
  • Ability to read, write and speak English

  • Associate degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year College or technical school; or 2+ years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
  • Ability to write simple correspondence
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
  • Ability to problem solve
  • Ability to quickly learn internal United processes
  • Proven ability to manage needs and concerns of multiple stakeholders
  • Selling knowledge with proven ability to create and sell-in customer specific promotional programs & key initiatives

Responsibilities

  • Overseeing the business relationship with a group of customers
  • Providing supervision for Merchandisers/distribution team members
  • Maintaining accuracy of outlet orders and capturing selling opportunities
  • Ensuring monthly and yearly sales goals are achieved in the most effective manner
  • Covering open needs of Supervisor – Sales
  • Generating product orders daily for their customer base and ensuring in-stock conditions on all Company products
  • Providing daily guidance and direction to Merchandisers/distribution team members on all customer needs
  • Working in partnership with the Merchandisers/distribution team members to execute the picture of success
  • Establishing positive relationships with all customers, as well as providing superior customer service
  • Providing feedback and recommendations to leadership on competitive threats and business opportunities as they arise
  • Ability to work with all functional team members
  • Coordinating all sales activities to ensure the highest level of execution on all marketing initiatives, new product introductions, and overall Picture of Success (PicOS)
  • Ensuring all merchandising and brand standards are executed
  • Reviewing business results with customers on a pre-determined frequency and gaining alignment on key business initiatives
  • Using survey results to improve execution vs PicOS
  • Ensuring all key business goals are achieved to include volume, revenue, margin, share and execution targets
  • Performs appropriate duties as assigned by management
  • Building relationships with assigned customers using routines and call frequencies
  • Responsible for account planning and management of the account list
  • Merchandises stores
  • Leads the call for each assigned customer and is responsible for selling in key initiatives such as price, package plan, business results, new brands, promotions and marketing activities
  • Assist (takes the lead) in the negotiation and renewal of contracts as needed – Customer marketing agreements
