About The Position

Catholic Charities of Los Angeles, Inc. is a large human services provider in California, operating various programs to serve the poor and help clients achieve self-reliance and stability. They run 18 community centers, one residence, and 8 homeless shelters, offering multi-faceted programs like after-school childcare, immigration, refugee, youth employment, and psychological services, homework assistance, ESL and GED classes, and services for homebound seniors and pregnant/parenting youth. Esperanza Immigrant Rights Project, a program of Catholic Charities, is a non-profit law firm providing community education and legal representation to immigrant adults, families, unaccompanied minors, individuals with mental health issues, and in crimmigration cases. The Release Services Case Manager will assist the Representation Program for adults with mental illness. Under the supervision of the Managing Attorney for the Representation Program, this role involves creating post-release plans, implementing linkage and individual rehabilitation services for clients found mentally incompetent by an Immigration Judge. The Case Manager will collaborate with program attorneys to develop placement plans, advocate for services, connect clients to community-based resources, and ensure placement goals are met after release from detention. The role also includes conducting outreach services to promote agency services.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in social work, human services, or related field from an accredited or state approved college or university required.
  • Spanish fluency required.
  • Passion for social justice for immigrants and vulnerable communities.

Nice To Haves

  • One year or more experience providing human services.
  • Prior case management experience in a social setting.
  • Experience in a non-profit organization is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Interviews and evaluates applicants for services.
  • Formulates and implements treatment plans of actions and goals.
  • Assists applicants in applying for and obtaining social and other services.
  • Prepares required reports in a timely manner.
  • Develops problem solving relationship with clients.
  • Assesses and identifies needs and abilities of clients.
  • Works with other agencies to ensure clients receive all needed services; links clients to existing agencies and community resources, including advocacy.
  • Conduct outreach services and promote agency services.
  • Records client-related information.
  • Displays sensitivity to the client population’s cultural and socioeconomic characteristics.
  • Compiles monthly statistics of services provided.
  • Performs related duties as required.
