About The Position

Under the supervision of the Director of Rehabilitation this team member will be responsible for reception, scheduling and patient file maintenance.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Possess interpersonal skills needed to function in a “team setting”.
  • Pleasant, tactful and courteous to patients/residents, visitors and staff.
  • Appropriate personal hygiene.
  • Ability to work in close cooperation with others and the Department Leader.
  • Ability to read well enough to follow directions and understand the responsibilities of working in the Rehabilitation Services Department.
  • Willing and able to participate in educational sessions, in-service training and demonstrations.
  • BLS is required. Will be assigned to a BLS class if credentials are not current.

Nice To Haves

  • Medical experience preferred but not required.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Greet Rehabilitation Services Department patients and verify registration with the outpatient department during first visit.
  • Answer phone calls and manage messages received communicating messages to the appropriate staff.
  • Schedule and manage patient appointments.
  • Maintain Rehabilitation Department staff schedules.
  • Check accuracy of billing batch list from the business office by verifying patient numbers and charges.
  • Create and maintain inpatient and outpatient charts.
  • Breakdown charts for dismissed rehabilitation patients and send charts to Health Information Services.
  • Ensure patient plans of care are complete with a provider signature, assemble and send patient evaluations/records to specialist as requested/directed by therapist and request renewal of orders as needed.
  • Communicate insurance requirements regarding pre-authorization, extensions requests, and denials to the appropriate staff.
  • Manage patient satisfaction surveys and forward results to the Director of Rehab.
  • These duties are subject to modification pending workflow/clinic requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned.
