Clark Regional Medical Center is a 79 bed community hospital featuring updated technology including new and expanded services such as Diagnostic Services, larger capacity Emergency Services, home-like Labor and Delivery Suites, and a skilled nursing facility. The campus also includes a 45,000 square foot Medical Plaza housing the Clark Clinic, Diagnostic Center for Women, Center for Rehabilitation, Specialty Clinic and Anticoagulation Clinic. Summary: Collects patient demographic and insurance information for outpatient services. Collects insurance, co-pay, and deductibles at Point of Service. Quickly and efficiently expedites the registration process. Provides a positive first impression of the hospital to the public.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Handle with Care to be received within 30 days of orientation and kept annually
  • Excellent customer service skills; communicates clearly and effectively as part of a team
  • Excellent computer skills including Excel, Word, and Web applications
  • Detail oriented with above average organizational skills
  • Plans and prioritizes to meet deadlines
  • Ability to multitask and remain focused while managing a high-volume, time-sensitive workload
  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action

Responsibilities

  • Ensures that all necessary demographic, billing, and clinical information is obtained and entered in the registration system with timeliness and accuracy.
  • Distributes and explains forms, documents, and educational handouts to patients or family members.
  • Meets with patient or patient's caregiver before or after admission to exchange necessary information and documentation. Provides explanation of process and addresses concerns and questions.
  • Communicates with admitting physician's office, nursing unit staff, and/or other appropriate personnel regarding admission to exchange necessary information and determine placement.
  • Verifies insurance benefits and obtains precertification/authorization as necessary. Determines and accepts required payments, including co-pays and deductibles, or refers to financial counselors for follow up
