About The Position

Beloit Memorial Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse to join their Recovery/PACU team. This role involves caring for, planning, coordinating, supervising, and providing care for clients across their life span. The Registered Nurse will deliver care using the nursing process of assessment, planning, intervention, implementation, and evaluation, collaborating with other professional disciplines to ensure effective patient care delivery and desired patient outcomes. Specifically, Operating Room/Post Anesthesia Care Nurses provide care and support to patients before, during, and after surgery, assisting the surgeon and surgical team. They provide direct and individualized nursing care based on scientific nursing principles.

Requirements

  • Graduate of accredited school of nursing (ADN, Diploma, BSN, or MSN degree acceptable)
  • State of Wisconsin Nursing licensure or permit required
  • On call requirements, 30-minute response time
  • Basic Life Support/CPR within 3 months of hire
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or the ability to obtain within three (3) months of hire
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or ability to obtain within six (6) months of hire
  • Manual and finger dexterity and eye/hand coordination
  • Ability to see and hear at a level sufficient to perform job duties with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Ability to speak clearly and distinctly and to interact positively with patients, peers, and the public.
  • Ability to carry up to 15 pounds
  • Ability to read, write and follow oral and written instructions.

Responsibilities

  • Work with all members of the health care team to provide optimal care to the patient throughout their surgical experience.
  • Serve as the communication liaison to family and members of the operating team.
  • Assist in patient education during all phases of their experience at the Center.
  • Monitor use of and charge for all supplies used.
  • Assist with inventory control by proper count of supplies/time used.
  • Record all care information concisely, accurately, and completely, in a timely manner, in the appropriate format with computer software application appropriate to position.
  • Prep operating room for patient/procedure.
  • Identify actual and potential risk to patients and others and take action to minimize or eliminate risk and maximize safety.
  • Monitor patients' physical and emotional well-being throughout the care continuum.
  • Make quick assessments of patients and handle emergency situations appropriately.
  • Perform other position-related duties as assigned, depending on assignment setting.
  • Direct care provided by licensed practical nurses and nursing aides (depending on setting).
  • Take the role of Circulating Nurse during the surgical procedure, with additional duties as assigned (depending on setting).
  • Float among various clinical services, as directed/needed.
