Duke University Health System is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join the Children’s Health Center at Duke University Hospital. This role supports pediatric outpatient specialty clinics located on Levels 2 and 3 and provides care to ambulatory pediatric patients and families with a wide range of healthcare needs. The nurse in this role may also support care delivery at Lenox Baker Children’s Hospital, offering variety within Duke’s pediatric network. This position is ideal for pediatric nurses who enjoy collaboration, adaptability, and meaningful patient and family connections in a fast-paced ambulatory environment with predictable scheduling. Requirements
- At least one year of RN experience required
- Ability to multitask and work effectively in a high-volume clinic setting
- Graduation from an accredited Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, Associate Degree in Nursing, or Nursing Diploma program
- Registered nurses without a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (or higher) will be required to enroll in an appropriate BSN program within two years of hire and complete the program within seven years.
- Current RN licensure with the North Carolina Board of Nursing or compact RN license
- BLS certification required
Nice To Haves
- Pediatric nursing experience preferred
- IV and/or procedural experience preferred
Responsibilities
- Provide professional nursing care to pediatric patients in outpatient specialty clinics
- Perform assessments, develop and implement nursing care plans, and provide patient and family education
- Administer medications and assist with procedures as appropriate
- Coordinate care with physicians, advanced practice providers, and interdisciplinary team members
- Delegate and collaborate with licensed and unlicensed staff
- Serve as a preceptor and support the development of new staff and learners
- Participate in quality improvement, safety, and performance initiatives
- Maintain accurate documentation in accordance with Duke policies and the North Carolina Board of Nursing
