About The Position

This position is for a Registered Nurse specializing in Women's Health at Mountain Home AFB in southwestern Idaho. The role involves participating in the orientation and training of newly assigned personnel, working with computer applications like Microsoft Office 365 and MS Outlook, and serving on committees to assist with decision-making and process improvement. The nurse will also participate in customer service initiatives and medical readiness activities. Key responsibilities include ensuring a safe work environment, coordinating patient care in collaboration with healthcare professionals, and facilitating optimal outcomes in clinical care, quality, and cost-effectiveness. The role requires ensuring compliance with standards of care, performing physical exams and health histories, providing health promotions, counseling, and education, administering medications, and performing wound care. The nurse will also direct and supervise care provided by other healthcare professionals, make patient care assignments, recognize adverse signs and symptoms, react quickly in emergency situations, communicate and collaborate with diverse groups, make referral appointments, arrange specialty care, perform unit-specific nursing services, and conduct research to support improved practice and patient outcomes.

Requirements

  • ASN or BSN Degree from a college or university accredited by Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).
  • Minimum 2-years of recent post-grad clinical experience, within the past 3 years, in a clinical patient care setting.
  • Current, full, active, and unrestricted RN license from any state.
  • Maintain current AHA or ARC BLS Certification.
  • Must possess ability to pass a Government background check/security clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Participates in the orientation and training of newly assigned personnel, as appropriate.
  • Works with computer applications/software to include Microsoft Office 365 programs, MS Outlook (e-mail) and internet usage.
  • Serves and participates in committees, functions and other meetings as directed.
  • Provides relevant and timely information to these groups and assists with decision-making and process improvement.
  • Participates in customer service initiatives and medical readiness activities, designed to enhance health services.
  • Ensures a safe work environment, employee safe work habits, and patient safety in accordance with regulatory agencies, infection control policies, and process improvement initiatives.
  • Coordinate patient care in collaboration with a wide array of healthcare professionals.
  • Facilitate the achievement of optimal outcomes in relation to clinical care, quality and cost effectiveness.
  • Ensure compliance with standards of care and practice in accordance with all established policies, procedures, and guidelines used in the MTF.
  • Perform physical exam and health histories.
  • Provide health promotions, counseling, and education.
  • Administer medications, wound care, and numerous other personalized interventions.
  • Direct and supervise care provide by other healthcare professionals.
  • Accountable for making patient care assignments based on the scope of practice and skill level of assigned personnel.
  • Recognize adverse signs and symptoms and quickly react in emergency situations.
  • Communicate and collaborate with a diverse group of people for the purpose of informing the healthcare team of plans/actions, for teaching/education to benefit the patient/family and organization.
  • Make referral appointments and arrange specialty care as appropriate.
  • Perform nursing services identified in the unit.
  • Conduct research in support of improved practice and patient outcomes.
