About The Position

Join our team at VCU Health as we prepare to launch our brand new Comprehensive Liver Care Unit - ICU in April 2025! We're gearing up for this milestone by recruiting and onboarding top talent to ensure a seamless transition. The unit is a 15 bed ICU catering specifically to the Liver Transplant and Transplant Hepatology populations with critical care needs. Nurses will enjoy 1:1 and 1:2 nurse to patient ratios tailored to the complexity of patient assignments. The unit benefits from round-the-clock in-person provider coverage, ensuring optimal patient care. Our Liver Transplant program is thriving, with volumes increasing year after year, completing 205 liver transplants in 2023. Requirements

  • Current RN licensure in Virginia or eligible or compact state
  • AHA BLS HCP Certification or equivalent (for continued employment)
  • For Clin II: 12 to 24 months RN experience
  • For Clin III: 3 years of clinical experience
  • Diploma or Associates Degree from a professional nursing program recognized and/or approved by the corresponding state’s Board of Nursing
  • All registered nurses without a Bachelor's degree in Nursing (or higher) will be required to enroll in an approved RN to BSN program within two years of their start date and to complete the program within five years of their start date unless grandfathered under previous requirements

Nice To Haves

  • For Clin I: Experience as an LPN, nursing assistant or care partner in either an acute care setting or as applicable to area of practice
  • For Clin II, Clin III: Academic Health Care Experience
  • For Clin II, Clin III: Experience with similar patient population in either an acute care setting or as applicable to area of practice
  • Completion of a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (or higher) from an accredited program
  • For Clin III: Certification in specialty area
