Huntington Beach Hospital, a member of the Prime Healthcare Foundation, is a 131-bed acute-care community hospital founded in 1967. It is the only hospital in Huntington Beach, serving the residents of Huntington Beach and the surrounding area. Fully accredited by The Joint Commission, the hospital has nearly 200 physicians and more than 400 healthcare and other professionals on staff, committed to providing outstanding service in a safe, comfortable, and caring environment. Registered nurses (RNs) perform basic duties that include treating patients, educating patients about mental and medical conditions, and providing advice and emotional support to patients’ and/or family members. They also run therapeutic groups, perform psychiatric crisis intervention, and handle seclusion and restraint of patients. RNs record patients’ medical histories and symptoms, help to perform diagnostic tests and analyze results, operate medical machinery, administer treatment and medications, and assist with patient follow-up and rehabilitation. They teach patients and their families how to manage their illness or injury, including diet and exercise programs, and self-administration of medication and physical therapy.
