Registered Nurse - Psych Acute Adult
About The Position
This full-time Registered Nurse position is in the Psych Acute Adult department at Prime Healthcare Mercy Medical in Aurora, IL. The role involves providing direct patient care, educating patients about mental and medical conditions, and offering advice and emotional support to patients and their family members. Key responsibilities include running therapeutic groups, psychiatric crisis intervention, and managing patient seclusion and restraint. Registered Nurses are also responsible for recording patients’ medical histories and symptoms, assisting with diagnostic tests and analyzing results, operating medical machinery, administering treatments and medications, and supporting patient follow-up and rehabilitation. Additionally, RNs teach patients and their families how to manage their illness or injury, including diet and exercise programs, and the self-administration of medication and physical therapy.
Requirements
- Must have current and valid State license as a Registered Nurse
- Current BLS certificate upon hire and maintain current
- Working knowledge of Mental Health Laws and practice standards
- Working knowledge of interdisciplinary treatment team process, behavioral health programming and daily nursing functions for inpatient and outpatient behavioral health units
- Working knowledge of the continuum of care for behavioral health care
