About The Position

Olmsted Medical Center is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) or LPN Nurse (LPN) for an Outpatient-Urology setting, working a PRN Day Shift. The LPN role involves conducting focused health assessments, reporting changes to a registered nurse or licensed healthcare provider, participating in care plan development, implementing interventions, assigning and monitoring tasks to other LPNs and unlicensed assistive personnel, providing safe and effective nursing care, promoting a safe and therapeutic environment, advocating for patients, assisting in intervention evaluation, collaborating with healthcare providers, providing health information, and contributing to policy development. The RN role encompasses providing comprehensive health assessments, collaborating with the healthcare team to develop and coordinate integrated plans of care, developing and implementing nursing interventions, delegating nursing tasks, providing safe and effective nursing care, promoting a safe and therapeutic environment, advocating for patients, evaluating intervention responses, collaborating with other professionals, providing health promotion and education, participating in policy development, and managing/supervising nursing practice. Both roles require accountability for the quality of care delivered, adherence to professional competencies, and managing information in accordance with regulations.

Requirements

  • For LPN: Graduate from an accredited school of practical nursing
  • For LPN: Current Minnesota LPN license required
  • For LPN & RN: BLS certification
  • For RN: Completion of an accredited professional nursing program
  • For RN: Current Minnesota Registered Nurse license
  • For RN: ACLS certification (Northwest Clinic and Hospital locations only including the departments of Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Acute Care, Cardiology, Pain Management, and Pediatrics)

Nice To Haves

  • For LPN: Previous clinic experience preferred
  • For RN: Minimum of one year nursing experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Conduct focused or comprehensive assessments of patient health status through data collection, analysis, and synthesis to establish a baseline and plan of care.
  • Report changes in health status and responses to interventions to a registered nurse or appropriate licensed healthcare provider.
  • Participate with other healthcare providers in the development and modification of a plan of care.
  • Determine, develop, and implement appropriate nursing interventions within a nursing plan of care or as delegated/assigned by a registered nurse or licensed healthcare provider.
  • Implement interventions that are delegated, ordered, or prescribed by a licensed healthcare provider.
  • Assign nursing activities or tasks to other licensed practical nurses or delegate nursing tasks/assign nursing activities to implement the plan of care.
  • Assign and monitor nursing tasks or activities to unlicensed assistive personnel.
  • Provide safe and effective nursing care delivery.
  • Promote a safe and therapeutic environment.
  • Advocate for the best interest of the patient.
  • Assist in or evaluate responses to interventions and the effectiveness of the plan of care.
  • Collaborate and communicate with other healthcare providers and professionals in the management and implementation of care within and across care settings and communities.
  • Provide healthcare information, health promotion, disease prevention, care coordination, and case finding to individual patients.
  • Provide input into or participate in the development of healthcare policies, procedures, and systems.
  • Accountable for the quality of care delivered, recognizing the limits of knowledge and experience; addressing situations beyond the nurse’s competency; and performing to the level of education, knowledge, and skill ordinarily expected of an individual who has completed an approved practical or professional nursing education program.
  • Maintain OMC Organization Competencies and Nursing Competencies pertinent to area of practice.
  • Manage information in accordance with state and federal regulations.
  • Communicate effectively.
  • Manage, supervise, and evaluate the practice of nursing (RN specific).
  • Design and implement teaching plans based on patient need and evaluate teaching effectiveness (RN specific).
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
