About The Position

The Inova Heart and Vascular Institute (IHVI) offers multidisciplinary expertise
in convenient locations across the Northern VA areas with state-of-the art
facilities. Our vascular program takes a pioneering approach to the treatment of
vascular disease through personalized and comprehensive treatments.

The Invasive Cardiovascular Labs at
Alexandria hospital are comprised of 6 labs (Cardiac Cath Labs, Interventional
Radiology Labs, and Electrophysiology Labs) and see cases such as Coronary,
Heart, Caths and Peripherals.

Requirements

• Minimum One year of experience in interventional Cardiac Cath Lab or Electrophysiology Lab or equivalent years of experience as a nurse working in a critical care hospital unit.
• Education: BSN or if associate’s degree, RN would need to commit to complete BSN within 5 years of hire
• RN licensed, or eligible to practice in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a RN
• BLS and ACLS certification (American Heart Association) required at start
• Proficient in English, strong verbal and written communication skills.

• 2+ years’ experience as Nurse in Cath Lab

Responsibilities

• Assists the physician with diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in the cath lab with the preparation of the sterile field, selection and preparation of instruments and supplies, manipulation of cardiac catheters, guidewires etc. and injection of contrast media. Administers medications, including moderate sedation, as directed by the physician.
• Calibrates, operates, and troubleshoots a wide variety of equipment and instruments 
• Selects appropriate instruments and supplies based on patient presentation during procedures.
• Provides safe and therapeutic care in a holistic and caring way while incorporating differences into the provision of care. Integrates knowledge, skill and experiences to meet the patient needs.
