About The Position

We are seeking a Perioperative Nurse, also referred to as an OR Circulating Nurse, OR Circulating RN, or Perioperative RN, for our Minor Surgical Procedures department. This role is part of a close-knit, highly collaborative operating room team that assists with minor surgical procedures. The OR Circulating RN is an essential member of the perioperative team, advocating for patients under anesthesia and/or sedation, and conducting an inventory of supplies and equipment used during and after minor surgical procedures. This position is on a per diem (PD/PRN) basis, requiring at least 3 shifts every 6 weeks, with 8-hour day shifts available (6:00a to 2:30p or 8:00a to 4:30p, flexible with the number of cases) at Saint John Hospital in Leavenworth, KS.

Requirements

Current and valid state RN License
Current BLS (AHA or ARC) certificate upon hire and maintain current
Current ACLS (AHA or ARC) certificate 30 days upon hire and maintain current

Responsibilities

Prepare the operating room, ensure the cleanliness of the environment, and confirm that all required equipment is functioning properly
Assist in preparing the patient for the minor surgery, which may involve verifying the patient's identity and surgical site, helping to position the patient on the operating table, and ensuring that all necessary pre-operative procedures are completed
Document pertinent information before, during, and after the surgical procedure, such as the patient's vital signs, medications administered, and any other relevant details for the patient's medical record
Maintain a safe and sterile environment in the operating room by adhering to strict infection control protocols and ensure that all team members follow proper procedures for handling instruments and equipment
