DESCRIPTION: Unity Lab Services, a division of Thermo Fisher Scientific, seeks a Customer Site Supervisor to lead teams delivering integrated laboratory services. In this role, you'll ensure operational excellence while managing comprehensive laboratory support services including stockroom/inventory management, chemical handling, glassware washing, and laboratory maintenance. You'll guide cross-functional teams to consistently deliver exceptional customer service, while identifying opportunities for service expansion and process improvement. Working closely with customers and internal stakeholders, you'll ensure service level agreements are met, develop and track key performance metrics, and implement continuous improvement initiatives. This is an opportunity to contribute meaningfully by enabling our customers to advance scientific research and discovery. Valid driver's license and ability to travel to customer sites as needed. This role covers the Northeast region. The ideal employee will be located in either Boston or Cambridge metro areas. How will you get here? Education High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor’s degree in business, science, or a related field preferred, or an advanced degree with at least three years of experience, or a bachelor’s degree with five years of experience in laboratory services or a related field. A combination of education and relevant experience that demonstrates the required skills will also be considered. Experience 4+ years of leadership experience managing teams, with demonstrated success driving process improvements, operational efficiency, and inventory management within SOP-driven environments. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications (Excel, Outlook, Teams) Strong organizational, project management, and analytical skills, with high attention to detail and sound decision-making in time-sensitive environments Knowledge of laboratory safety protocols, GxP/regulatory requirements, SDS documentation, and DOT labeling. Basic chemical knowledge, including safe handling, calculations, and material tracking Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, with the ability to interact professionally at all levels. Customer-focused mindset with a demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective working relationships. Strong commitment to safety and compliance in all aspects of work. Physical Requirements / Work Environment The role primarily involves working independently at customer sites, which may include areas with chemical-based allergens like penicillin and tetracycline. Personal protective equipment, such as lab coats, coveralls, facemasks, and steel-toe shoes, is often required. The position requires regular lifting of 30-40 lbs (up to 50 lbs occasionally) and using equipment like pushcarts and forklifts to move up to 100 lbs. Standing, walking, and manual material handling of chemical containers are frequent activities, sometimes in varied temperature environments. Overtime work may also be necessary.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
