This Regional Sales Manager will represent sales in the following states: Kansas, North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota, Nebraska, Iowa, Illinois, Wisconsin, Missouri, and Indiana. The selected candidate must live within the listed region. WHAT WE HOPE YOU BRING TO NICOR We are seeking a results-driven sales professional with proven experience in the lighting or electrical industry. Industry expertise is essential for this role, as it demands immediate credibility with customers, distributors, and manufacturer representatives. You bring a strong foundation of technical and market knowledge, paired with the discipline and drive needed to succeed in a performance-based sales environment. You are a self-starter who takes ownership of results, approaches challenges with a solution-oriented mindset, and consistently operates with integrity. Sales goals motivate you, relationships matter to you, and you thrive in environments where accountability and respect guide how work gets done. LOCATION: This role offers a remote setting with 75% overnight travel within your designated region, Monday through Thursday, three weeks a month.

Requirements

  • Prior experience in the lighting industry or electrical field (required; candidates without this experience will not be considered)
  • Demonstrated success in sales, business development, or account management
  • Strong understanding of manufacturer representative and distributor sales channels
  • Ability to build and maintain long-term, trust-based customer relationships
  • Self-motivated, disciplined, and goal-oriented work style
  • High ethical standards and a solutions-first approach to challenges

  • Experience managing regional or territory-based sales
  • Familiarity with product specification processes and project-driven sales
  • Experience in supporting or launching new products into the market
  • Comfort presenting technical products to varied audiences

Responsibilities

  • Develop and grow relationships with new and existing customers
  • Drive sales through independent manufacturer representatives and distributors
  • Position NICOR products at the forefront of the market through strategic engagement
  • Manage and influence product specifications to support project wins
  • Lead and support new product launches within your region
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to meet sales, profitability, and growth targets
  • Represent NICOR with professionalism, consistency, and attention to detail
  • You will immerse yourself in NICOR's technology, operations, and processes, enabling you to clearly and effectively communicate our value proposition.
