Directs and leads a sales force to achieve sales and gross profit goals. Implements sales programs and sets short and long-term sales goals to meet overall divisional sales goals. Sees that approved sales techniques are followed and advocates new techniques and approaches when increases are needed to extract full market potential. Work closely with Marketing Department to help build the brand.

Requirements

  • Ability to effectively motivate and increase sales with small sales teams.
  • Travel can be extensive.
  • College degree in business and 3-5 years experience in sales with at least 2 in the metal industry.
  • Must have at least 2 years supervisory experience in sales.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for leading a small team of outside sales representatives and possibly some additional inside sales representatives in meeting specific district sales goals.
  • Motivates team to achieve and succeed specific volume and gross profit goals.
  • Works to develop skills for all the sales team promoting individual training plans for areas that need strengthening.
  • Develops bench strength in the sales organization by identifying internal and external talent that has the essential skills to be successful in selling Coilplus products.
  • Assists, when necessary, sales representatives to close when the potential sale meets a certain significant level, if the client is somewhat difficult to close or with new customers where persuasive techniques are needed to finalize the sale.
  • Develops significant relationships with existing clients throughout their organizations to help identify those who are the decision-makers.
  • Trains new sales representatives on how-it-is-done: to successfully identify customer needs, overcome any outstanding objections and to finalize the sale.
  • Works with existing clientele to develop market intelligence. E.g., determining which companies are entering or exiting various product lines and which companies within the territory have secured new contracts that might need Coilplus products.
  • Passes on intel to sales leadership.
  • Collaborates with peers within company and outside resources to determine those best practices that other divisions or other companies are using to increase sales under the current market conditions.
  • Builds a sales plan that meets the overall division’s goals for revenue and gross profits meanwhile taking into consideration market opportunities for growth.
  • Collaborates with purchasing to establish mill contracts needed to support the established sales plan.
  • Maintain a clean work environment.
