About The Position

The beautiful parishes of St. Charles and St. Leo's of Tacoma are looking for a Regional Pastoral Assistant for Administration to serve the parish family by providing strategic and operational support to the pastor as well as to other key staff, ensuring the stewardship of the financial and physical resources of the parish. This position has primary responsibility for finance, facilities, technology and maintenance within the parish family Primary Role Summary Collaborates with the pastor and parish staff in implementing the mission of the parish with specific focus on finance, facilities, technology and maintenance. Manages the financial resource systems of the parish family and ensures compliance with related Archdiocesan and civil policies and procedures relating to finance. Responsible for all operations, maintenance, security, repair and capital projects of parish facilities and ensures compliance with related Archdiocesan and civil policies and procedures. Directs staff and contract roles in day-to-day operations of the finance, facilities, technology and maintenance functions. Supports fundraising activities such as Parish Stewardship, Planned Giving, capital campaigns and Archdiocesan campaigns. Responsible for development and implementation of budget (in collaboration with Chief of Staff and Leadership Team), preparation of annual reports, evaluation and communication of monthly financial reports, including bank reconciliation of the parish family. Serves as staff to the Finance Council and facilities related councils and commissions. Evaluates office equipment and technology and manages the up-grade of or installation of new equipment or systems. Directs the preparation and upkeep of asset inventory. Overall responsibility for all information technology, including but not limited to computers (hardware and software), internet/telephone, copiers, etc. Responsible for maintenance of current parish census and database as well as parish operational, financial and sacramental records. Also includes safeguarding and archiving all parish records and documents. Manages parish relationships with financial institutions, vendor relationships, financial stewardship activities, fundraising and parish offertory collections. Works effectively with the principal in all school financial, facilities, technology and maintenance matters.

Requirements

  • Willingness and ability to support the mission of the Church by extending the ministry of the Archbishop.
  • Ability and desire to use God-given gifts and talents in service of the local Church in support of the collaboration between lay and ordained Ministers.
  • Active member of a parish/faith community in good standing with the Church.
  • Strong familiarity with and affinity for the traditions, liturgical practices, and norms of the Catholic Church so as to be able to understand and anticipate the preferences of the community we serve.
  • Excellent customer service and communications skills.
  • BA degree in Management, Accounting, Finance preferred or equivalent experience
  • 3-5 years experience working in accounting, finance, facilities or administration
  • Demonstrated organizational and management skills.
  • Demonstrated competency in bookkeeping and ability to manage accounts receivable and payable
  • Prior experience in management and supervision
  • Ability to work effectively in a constructive and collaborative manner.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Understanding of how administration in a Church setting is different from administration in other contexts.
  • Ability to supervise effectively.
