About The Position

The primary purpose of the salary administration specialist is salary administration and final approval authority for position classifications in the Department of Adult Correction in central human resources. This position is one of the primary contacts for employment and salary administration issues to include the review of employment packages for accuracy and technical review to ensure applicants meet the minimum training and educational requirements. The salary administration specialist reviews recommended positions and salaries to ensure applicants qualify for recommended salaries and equity issues are addressed. Salary administration functions include but are not limited to new hires, reinstatements, reassignments, promotions, demotions, transfers, reallocations, in ranges, processing actions, and special salary adjustments. This position ensures that employment processing functions are carried out accurately and in a timely manner maintaining compliance with OSHR and DAC policies, Criminal Justice training standards, as well as standardized practices. The salary administration specialist is accountable for a wider range of responsibility based on the variety and complexity of decisions made and the consequence of error in understanding and communicating the integration of salary administration policies. Position supports management by providing advice on recommended salaries, training on the employment process and/or consultation on OSHR policy, employment documents and/or salary related issues or concerns.

Requirements

  • Considerable knowledge of applying, and interpreting OSHR policies and procedures especially related to salary administration and merit- based recruitment.
  • Considerable knowledge of various software to produce reports, and documents from (i.e., SAP BEACON, Microsoft Office) to provide management information (i.e., trends, etc.)
  • Ability to communicate effectively (clearly and concisely) with a diverse set of hiring managers, internal agency staff, and other HR personnel in written and verbal form, while meeting strict deadlines.
  • Proven ability to gather, compile, and evaluate information pertaining to position details and employee salary analysis and maintaining confidentiality.
  • Ability to exercise judgment in evaluating situations and making recommendations concerning employees and positions, transactions and problems, and maintain good working relationships.
  • Associate’s degree, typically in Human Resources or relevant field from an appropriately accredited institution and 2 years of experience required; or 3 years of progressive experience in Human Resources; or equivalent combination or education and experience.
