Job Description Summary: Job Description: Job Responsibilities Responsible for management of the Registered Dietitians. Directs the day to day nutrition program’s clinical, operational and sales activities to deliver safe, efficient and effective patient care while meeting corporate compliance and other established rules and regulations governing the healthcare industry. Leader of the assigned Regional multidisciplinary nutrition support teams to provide safe, comprehensive nutrition support services to home parenteral and enteral nutrition patients. Builds a cohesive, service-oriented team through recruitment, training, development, engagement and retention of qualified RDs. Facilitates a work environment in which staff will succeed and grow in their professional development and contribute to the overall success of Option Care. Communicates effectively with RDs by conducting regular staff meetings, providing updates surrounding changes within the nutrition support market, the nutrition program, and the Regional operations. Develops relationships with and mentors RDs by conducting regular one-on-one meetings. Drives standardization and quality of the RD role. Implements and enforces nutrition program policies. Conducts regular RD patient chart audits. Monitors clinical nutrition support key indicators such as: patient census, patient satisfaction, clinical competence, nutrition assessments, and performance improvement activities. Delegates RD coverage across designated Region to ensure adequate PN patient support and equal patient load among RDs. Works closely with all Operational and Commercial leaders to ensure the needs of the business are met. Works closely with regional sales directors to ensure appropriate market penetration of the nutrition program. Involved in Regional strategic sales planning and identification of new markets and or new prescribers to promote growth of the nutrition program. Evaluates RD staffing needs within assigned Region. Assists with recruiting and conducts interviews, hiring and training of new staff. Facilitates new RD orientation and training. Conducts new hire training within specified timeframe following the program standardized process including the Orientation and Training Checklist – New Dietitian. Identifies need for on-going continuing education and training of nutrition support clinicians and office staff within the Region. Works closely with other managers (National Director or Nutrition Operations, Clinical Nutrition Director, Nutrition Operations Manager, Pharmacy and Nursing leaders) to ensure nutrition support competence across disciplines. Assists in the development, implementation, and evaluation of continuing education, training and in-service education programs in coordination with corporate, and clinical and sales management teams. Implements and evaluates the nutrition support program model. Identifies opportunities for operational or clinical improvement and communicates to National Director of Nutrition Operations and Clinical Director of Nutrition. Conducts annual performance evaluations, goal-setting and other manager related activities.

Requirements

  • Registration with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) and license / certification in the state of residence, as appropriate with at least 5 years of nutrition support work experience.
  • At least 5 years of nutrition support work experience and 2 years of home infusion experience.
  • At least 2 years of experience in direct or indirect management of team members, including assisting in the development, training and assignment of work/projects to other team members.
  • Experience in managing teams across business units.
  • Experience applying knowledge in planning, organizing, implementing, and evaluating clinical programs that will meet the needs of the office and community served.
  • Experience educating and empowering staff to implement nutrition service processes.
  • Experience developing ways of accomplishing goals with little or no supervision, depending on oneself to complete objectives and determining when escalation of issues is necessary.
  • Proven leadership skills, reimbursement knowledge and successful experience supporting sales at the local level.
  • Able to manage time, delegate, and prioritize with excellent communication skills.
  • Readily accepts change, interested in increasing knowledge base and embraces new challenges.
  • Experience in identifying issues and recommending and implementing strategies to resolve problems.
  • Intermediate level skill in Microsoft Word (for example: inserting headers, page breaks, page numbers and tables and/or adjusting table columns).
  • Intermediate level skill in Microsoft Excel (for example: using SUM function, setting borders, setting column width, inserting charts, using text wrap, sorting, setting headers and footers and/or print scaling).
  • Intermediate level skill in Microsoft PowerPoint (for example: applying a theme, formatting character spacing, inserting a picture, changing slide layout and theme colors, adding transitions, customizing slide numbers, changing chart style and/or formatting font).

  • Advanced degree in nutrition, business or management.
  • At least 2 years of sales and marketing experience.
