This role is for a Regional Manager, Health, Safety & Environment, providing senior-level EHS leadership across multiple U.S. manufacturing facilities. The position reports directly to the Vice President, EHS, and is responsible for ensuring strategy execution, governance, and performance consistency. The successful candidate will develop, deploy, and continuously improve regional EHS strategies aligned with corporate objectives, operational excellence, and manufacturing KPIs, while also serving as a strategic advisor to regional and plant leadership on EHS risk, regulatory exposure, and capital planning. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Safety, Engineering, or related technical discipline.
  • 10–15+ years of progressive EHS experience within manufacturing or industrial environments, including regional or multi-site responsibility.
  • Demonstrated success managing EHS programs across multiple states with differing regulatory requirements.
  • Knowledge in implementing and sustaining ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 / ISO 45001 management systems.
  • Strong background in OSHA compliance, serious incident management, and regulatory inspections.
  • Demonstrated success leading audits, investigations, and regulatory interactions.
  • Expert knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and U.S. multi-state regulatory frameworks.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, machine safety, and operational risk.
  • Executive presence with the ability to influence senior leaders and plant management.
  • Data-driven, systems-oriented mindset with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to travel regionally (typically 50–60%).
  • Must be willing to travel to Canada & Mexico if needed.

Responsibilities

  • Provide senior-level EHS leadership across multiple U.S. manufacturing facilities in a matrixed environment, reporting directly to the Vice President, EHS.
  • Act as the primary regional extension of the VP EHS, ensuring strategy execution, governance, and performance consistency.
  • Develop, deploy, and continuously improve regional EHS strategies aligned with corporate objectives, operational excellence, and manufacturing KPIs.
  • Serve as a strategic advisor to regional and plant leadership on EHS risk, regulatory exposure, and capital planning.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop site EHS managers and specialists; build bench strength through coaching, succession planning, and formal training.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, and applicable multi-state and local regulatory requirements across all manufacturing locations.
  • Maintain deep working knowledge of state-specific OSHA plans and environmental programs and ensure consistent implementation.
  • Lead and oversee regulatory inspections, third-party audits, and internal compliance assessments.
  • Lead EHS management of change assessments related to equipment installation, decommissioning and modifications.
  • Conduct and review risk assessments (machine safety, PSM where applicable, electrical, confined space, LOTO, ergonomics).
  • Lead serious incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective/preventive action implementation.
  • Manage environmental permits, regulatory reporting, and agency interactions at the regional level.
  • Own and drive regional safety performance with direct accountability for TRIR, DART, and serious injury/fatality (SIF) prevention metrics.
  • Establish annual EHS goals, targets, and action plans in alignment with VP EHS and corporate objectives.
  • Lead injury and illness prevention programs, including behavior-based safety, ergonomics, industrial hygiene, and contractor safety.
  • Review trends in leading and lagging indicators; deploy targeted interventions to improve site performance.
  • Lead emergency preparedness, crisis management support, and business continuity coordination across manufacturing sites.
  • Own regional environmental performance with accountability for key environmental metrics (e.g., waste reduction, permit compliance, emissions, and spills).
  • Oversee air, water, waste, and chemical management compliance, including spill prevention and remediation.
  • Support sustainability, emissions reduction, and resource efficiency initiatives in partnership with operations and engineering.
  • Ensure environmental due diligence and integration for new sites, expansions, and acquisitions.
  • Assist with assessing the effectiveness of EHS training programs across all manufacturing sites, including OSHA or EPA required training.
  • Conduct specialized EHS training as required such as fall protection, confined space, DOT/Hazmat/RCRA.
  • Promote clear communication of EHS expectations, performance metrics, and best practices across the region.
  • Influence leadership behaviors to strengthen a culture of safety and compliance.
  • Drive continuous improvement using KPI dashboards, report cards, and management review processes aligned with VP EHS expectations.
  • Standardize EHS processes, tools, and reporting across the region.
  • Share best practices and lessons learned across manufacturing sites to elevate overall performance.
  • Support M&A due diligence, site start-ups, and expansions from an EHS perspective.
