About The Position

This high-autonomy role requires a strategic architect and executor to lead North American Health, Safety, and Environmental functions. As a "Department of One," the successful candidate will own the end-to-end lifecycle of HSE programs across expanding manufacturing operations in the US and Canada. This position requires a unique blend of corporate policy development and "boots-on-the-ground" tactical execution.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of HSE experience in a manufacturing environment with a demonstrable track record of scaling multi-site programs as an individual contributor.
  • Utilize deep technical expertise in Machine Guarding, LOTO, Fall Protection, and HAZMAT.
  • Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related technical field.
  • Travel up to 20% - 30% to maintain high-visibility leadership at regional sites.

Nice To Haves

  • Possess CSP (Certified Safety Professional) or CRSP (Canadian Registered Safety Professional) credentials which are highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the definitive Subject Matter Expert and primary point of contact for all HSE matters across North America.
  • Author, implement, and evolve regional HSE manuals, SOPs, and emergency response protocols to ensure a unified safety culture.
  • Maintain a visible presence through regular, hands-on safety audits and risk assessments while providing real-time coaching and corrective actions to plant & remote personnel.
  • Drive seamless compliance with OSHA (US) and OHS (Canada) regulations at federal, state, and provincial levels.
  • Personally lead all incident investigations using Root-Cause Analysis and manage the workers' compensation process from initial report to return-to-work.
  • Oversee all environmental permits while leading sustainability initiatives to reduce the North American resource footprint.
  • Develop and track critical HSE Key Performance Indicators to measure program effectiveness and identify emerging safety trends.
  • Formulate and present data-backed recommendations to the leadership team to drive continuous improvement and organizational alignment.
  • Maintain comprehensive reporting systems that provide transparency into regional safety performance and regulatory status.
  • Design and deliver high-impact safety training and "Toolbox Talks" tailored to both front-line workers and executive leadership.
  • Facilitate and energize local safety committees to foster a "floor-up" safety mentality where every employee acts as a safety stakeholder.
