The English Language (EL) teacher provides English language development instruction to children who are acquiring English as an additional language. The EL Teacher works collaboratively with other school-based instructional personnel to meet the individual needs of each English Learner (EL)/Multilingual Learner (ML) child. Required activities include planning and delivering lessons, collaborating with classroom teachers and specialists, administering formative and summative assessments to measure language progress, completing documentation required for compliance with state and federal guidelines, and attending regular Professional Development. National Heritage Academies (NHA) partner schools seek to grow and empower our teachers by providing ample opportunities to learn together and from each other. A few of the ways we do this include Regional Professional Learning events that embed instructional growth with networking opportunities and monthly virtual EL specific professional learning sessions. Each EL Teacher meets regularly with the Dean of EL Program Services to receive coaching and development. Each school is supported by a dedicated EL Curriculum Specialist to provide targeted EL instructional coaching.
