Job Summary A Regional Broadcast Engineer is responsible for overseeing the technical aspects of broadcast operations within a specific geographical region. This role typically combines hands-on maintenance, troubleshooting, installation, and support of broadcast equipment and systems. Essential Functions 1) Maintenance and Troubleshooting: Ensure the continuous operation of broadcast equipment, such as transmitters, satellite receivers, IT networks, and video/audio control systems. Diagnose and repair any technical issues with broadcasting equipment or systems. Monitor broadcast signals and transmissions to ensure quality and compliance with technical standards. 2) Installation and Setup: Install new broadcast equipment, systems, or upgrades in the regional broadcast facilities or remote locations. Work with engineers and technicians to set up live events, remote broadcasts, or studio setups. 3) Technical Support: Provide technical assistance to on-air talent, production teams, and other departments to ensure smooth broadcast operations. Offer troubleshooting support during live broadcasts and ensure minimal disruptions. Train and assist local technicians on broadcast technology and processes 4) Compliance and Reporting: Ensure compliance with local and national broadcasting regulations, including signal quality, licensing, and technical standards. Maintain and manage accurate records of broadcast system configurations, repairs, and maintenance activities. 5) Collaboration and Communication: Coordinate with regional and central engineering teams to ensure consistency in broadcast quality and equipment standards. Liaise with outside vendors for technical support, parts, or equipment procurement. 6) Innovation and Improvement: Stay current on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to improve broadcast operations. Recommend and implement improvements to broadcast technology, workflow, or system efficiency.

Requirements

  • Minimum 7 years of relevant experience in broadcast engineering, electrical engineering, telecommunications, or a related field
  • Technical Knowledge : Strong background in broadcast equipment, transmission systems, and video/audio technology.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues under time pressure.
  • Communication Skills : Clear communication with staff, vendors, and management, both verbal and written.
  • Attention to Detail : Ensuring high-quality broadcast standards and compliance with regulations.
  • Experience : Typically requires several years of experience in broadcasting or a related technical field.

Nice To Haves

  • A bachelor’s degree in broadcast engineering, electrical engineering, telecommunications, or a related field, preferred.
