Requirements

  • Must work Eastern (EST/EDT) time hours
  • Expected travel up to 30 percent of the time to the various markets, Reach Media, and Corporate
  • Must be results-oriented with strong, hands-on accounting and financial skills
  • Ability to grasp the big picture.
  • Personify a mid-manager role model
  • Expertise with Lawson, Oracle Hyperion, CounterPoint , and Wide Orbit, Infor systems a plus
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving solving and reasoning skills
  • Ability to team, collaborate, and work with various levels of staff, especially executives
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Products, particularly Excel and Word
  • Demonstrated supervisory skills
  • Knowledge of traffic systems (e.g., Wide Orbit, and other financial systems, e.g., Lawson, Oracle Hyperion, Infor
  • Complies with Network and Urban One s mandatory training and adheres to related course deadlines
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and direct a team to include but not limited to:  Provide regular constructive feedback
  • Resolve issues/conflicts with diplomacy in a timely manner
  • Provide ongoing guidance and support for growth and development
  • Deploy effective coaching skills
  • Practical understanding of anti-harassment and discrimination laws
  • Ability to effectively administer performance reviews and corrective action plans as appropriate.
  • Ensure team (s) attend mandatory department and/or mandatory company training (s) as required.

  • Legal right to work in the United States
  • Bachelor s degree(BA/BS) from an accredited institution in accounting or finance.
  • Minimum 8-10 years of relevant experience.
  • Prior radio broadcast experience is a must

  • MBA and/or CPA are welcome plus.
  • network revenue experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Manage accounting functions: monthly closes, financial statements preparation, commissions calculation and payroll review, accounts payable, billing, accounts receivable
  • Ensure timely and accurate submission of all required accounting documentation, adhering to corporate and accounting policies, for period-end close and reporting
  • Preparation or review of monthly journal entries, balance sheet account reconciliations, and fluctuation analyses for respective markets and entities
  • Prepare monthly/ quarterly and ad hoc reporting to leadership, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory and GAAP requirements
  • Manage operations: annual budgets, sales projections, pacing, periodic re-forecasts, strategic plans
  • Supervise accounting personnel and provide guidance and coaching
  • Oversee hiring, performance evaluations, disciplinary actions, coaching, training, development, and planning,
  • Ensure effective controls, policies, procedures, GAAP, SOX 404 compliance, and satisfactory audits for responsible markets
  • Interact with Finance Vice Presidents, Chief Operating Officers, and other executives
  • Lead executive and corporate liaisons and interactions
  • Partner with the Corporate HR Department for onboarding and employee relations
  • Oversee the region s Corporate interfaces on insurance coordination, fixed assets, and taxes
  • Ensure efficient processes through automation, ERP implementation, critical assessment, and re-design of current practices and processes
  • Provide support with leadership management in the implementation of transformation efforts and continuous accounting system improvements
  • Collaborate across departments and business partners such as IT, Engineering, SEC reporting, FP&A, and tax, as necessary
  • Support the Corporate Controller and senior management with special projects and strategic initiatives
  • Perform other duties as assigned
