About The Position

Under the general direction of the Director, Health Services and in collaboration with Manager, Health Services and Home Care, the Regional Bed Utilization Coordinator is responsible for the effective facilitation and coordination of patient admissions, transfers, and discharges within Southern Health-Santé Sud as it relates to the overall patient movement across the province. The incumbent exercises the appropriate level of initiative and independent judgment in determining work priorities, work methods to be employed and action to be taken on unusual matters. The position functions in a manner that is consistent with the mission, vision and values; and the policies of Southern Health-Santé Sud. Requirements

• Minimum 4 years recent nursing experience required with a minimum of 2 years in acute care within the last five years.
• Previous directly related experience working in a discharge role.
• Bachelor of Nursing Degree required.
• Current active practicing registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba (CRNM) required.
• Requires a valid Class 5 driver’s license, an all-purpose insured vehicle and liability insurance of at least $1,000,000.
• Demonstrated ability to adapt quickly in changing circumstances, setting and adjusting priorities as needed, and meeting established timelines.
• Demonstrated ability to bring various stakeholders with competing needs and priorities together toward a common goal.
• Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Demonstrated ability to apply critical thinking and decision-making skills required.
• Demonstrated organizational skills as well as attention to detail required.
• Excellent interpersonal skills as well as effective oral and written communication skills required.
• Demonstrated ability in utilizing computerized applications such as Microsoft Word and Excel.

• Demonstrated ability to respect confidentiality including paper, electronic formats and other mediums.
• Good work and attendance record.
• Demonstrated ability to meet the physical and mental demands of the job.
• Completes and maintains Satisfactory Criminal Record Check, Vulnerable Sector Search, Adult Abuse Registry Check and Child Abuse Registry Check.
