About The Position

The Opportunity: Avantor is seeking a dynamic and results-driven Region Sales Director to lead a high-performing team across the state of New York. This individual will be responsible for managing a multi-million-dollar portfolio and driving strategic growth across key market segments, including Higher Education, Pharmaceutical, Biotechnology, and Industrial sectors. The ideal candidate will bring a strong track record of sales leadership, market segmentation, and customer engagement. This role requires a strategic thinker who can develop and execute territory plans, coach and inspire a team, and build lasting relationships with key stakeholders to expand Avantor’s presence and impact in the region. This role is best suited for a leader based near the New York City metropolitan area to effectively support customers and sales teams across the state.

Requirements

  • College degree or equivalent/applicable experience, required
  • 2-5 years of proven leadership experience in team development and management, preferred
  • This position requires a valid driver's license to perform essential functions of the role
  • Microsoft Office, with preference for experience in C4C, Salesforce, or Qlikview

  • Several years of successful outside sales experience, demonstrating strong industry knowledge and negotiation skills.
  • Demonstrated success operating in high-volume, performance-driven environments while balancing strategic and day-to-day execution.
  • Distribution experience and a scientific background and/or have worked in a laboratory or research environment

Responsibilities

  • Hire, train, and set expectations with all sales associates in the region.
  • Continually evaluate associate progress and performance.
  • Provide formal and informal sales training to all sales associates in the assigned area.
  • Develop programs and selling strategies to motivate the sales force and stimulate sales.
  • Develop and maintain sound customer and supplier relations.
  • Directly handle contract negotiations for key accounts.
  • Prepare sales and gross margin forecasts for region territories and analyze and monitor sales data for the region.
  • Monitor and manage key product sales.
  • Successfully interface with internal customers and service providers such as NCO, Furniture division, Avantor Specialists, and Business Process Consultants.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
