About The Position

This is an anticipated vacancy. This position is expected to be available on 3/2/2026. This position is responsible for providing specialized professional assistance and support to local school systems and schools in the assessment of student performance (grades K–12) and the collection and management of student data in the implementation of the North Carolina Annual Testing Program and the fulfillment of the state and federally mandated accountability program. This is a regional position and requires 25% travel. Travel includes on-site monitoring of schools in the region, including charter schools, and monthly two-day meetings at the NCDPI offices in Raleigh.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Education, Tests and Measurement, Education Research, Education/Quantitative Psychology and Statistics, or Statistics, from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of directly related experience in an education environment needed to perform the work; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Provide accurate information on testing and accountability requirements, procedures, protocols, and outcomes to public school units.
  • Conduct regional based training for public school units virtually and in-person as determined by the statewide schedule.
  • Provide support to public school units on data interpretation and verification to ensure accurate data files for accountability analysis.
  • Resolve public school units’ questions and requests for assistance with knowledge of the program, and when necessary, alerts the appropriate NCDPI colleagues.
  • Ensure public school units meet deadlines for all deliverables including but not limited to data submissions and end-of-year checklist.
  • Monitor assessment administrations as required by the U.S. Department of Education peer review process and as determined by the NCDPI sampling methodology.
  • Participate in the regional support team, including providing information on data collections and processes, test requirements, and the development of new assessments as needed.
