About The Position

The Refrigeration Hardware Technician Supervisor provides field-level leadership and oversight for Publix’s in-house refrigeration hardware and facilities maintenance operations within an assigned geographic area. Supporting Publix Super Markets, Inc., the largest employee-owned grocery retailer in the United States, this role is responsible for supervising, scheduling, and directing Refrigeration Hardware Technicians (Levels 1 and 2) to ensure preventive maintenance and service activities are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with Publix standards. The supervisor also provides hands-on technical support in retail locations as needed to maintain reliable refrigeration systems and facility operations. The impact of the Refrigeration Hardware Technician Supervisor is critical to Publix’s ability to deliver a safe, dependable shopping environment and protect product quality across our stores. By ensuring refrigeration assets are properly maintained, this role helps minimize operational disruptions, reduce product loss, and manage equipment lifecycle and repair costs. In addition, the supervisor plays a key role in developing and mentoring a skilled in-house technician workforce, reinforcing Publix’s commitment to associate ownership, operational excellence, and long-term growth. Sound judgment and effective leadership are essential, as equipment failures or improper decisions can directly affect store operations, sales opportunities, and overall facilities performance.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or its equivalent
  • 3 years working in HVAC, refrigeration, carpentry, automotive, or electrical service OR 3 years in facilities or construction leadership
  • General electrical circuit troubleshooting and electrical safety processes
  • Willingness to work nights, weekends, holidays, extended hours and be on call 24/7 as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • HVAC or Trade school completion or its equivalent
  • 5 years working in HVAC, refrigeration, carpentry, automotive, or electrical service OR 5 years in facilities or construction leadership
  • EPA Universal Certification
  • Intermediate knowledge of Excel
  • SAP knowledge

Responsibilities

  • team leadership and development: recruiting, screening, interviewing, and recommending candidates for hire; developing schedules; assigning daily responsibilities; conducting training; providing ongoing coaching, feedback, and recognition.
  • overseeing the execution of refrigeration hardware preventive maintenance and service for a group of stores within a select geographic area
  • collaborating with peer supervisors and leadership to establish and execute best practices that enhance maintenance processes, service efficiency, and customer-focused communication
  • assisting in field work as needed
