About The Position

What Medical Administration and Data contributes to Cardinal Health Business & Administrative Support is responsible for assisting general business operations by providing an array of administrative and data support activities. The Referral Coordinator is responsible for managing all incoming referrals for Cancer Care of North Florida. They are integral in supporting the effective operation of the clinic by managing administrative tasks, patient data, and medical records. This employee ensures the flow of information, maintaining patient confidentiality and supports clinical staff.

Requirements

  • 1-3 years of experience, preferred
  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent work experience, preferred
  • Microsoft Office experience, preferred
  • Experience with obtaining prior authorization and verification of benefits, preferred
  • Customer service skills, preferred
  • Medical office experience a plus
  • Applies acquired job skills and company policies and procedures to complete standard tasks
  • Works on routine assignments that require basic problem resolution
  • Refers to policies and past practices for guidance
  • Receives general direction on standard work; receives detailed instruction on new assignments
  • Consults with supervisor or senior peers on complex and unusual problems

Responsibilities

  • Keeps track of all incoming referrals
  • Ensure all necessary documents are included in the referral
  • Request /obtain authorization as necessary for the initial visit
  • Verify insurance and whether we are in-network with their coverage
  • Scheduling new patient appointments for all incoming referrals
  • Maintains proper communication with referring providers, as necessary
  • Creates accounts for new patients, including entering all demographic information and insurance information
  • Discusses co-pay for initial visit and any other expected costs for the initial visit
  • Answers incoming phone calls
  • Assists with checking patients in and out of the clinic, as needed
  • Other duties as assigned
