About The Position

Nebraska’s Re-employment Strategy is a comprehensive re-employment program streamlining the Nebraska Department of Labor’s (NDOL) services to assist individuals who are unemployed in returning to work quicker. Under the Unemployment Insurance (UI) Division, the Reemployment Coordinator will work to improve employment outcomes of UI recipients and reduce the duration of unemployment claims. The Reemployment Coordinator will plan, implement, and facilitate one-on-one orientations for job seekers about the online labor exchange, Labor Market Information, and One-Stop partner services. Requirements

  • Post high school coursework or training in social/behavioral sciences, counseling, business, public administration, education, marketing, or a related field; or experience in client development and case management including interviewing, research, and direct customer service.
  • Must have a valid driver's license or the ability to provide independent authorized transportation.
  • Knowledge of: State and federal employment security laws; case management interviewing procedures and techniques; typical office computer systems.
  • Skill in: public speaking or communicating with an audience; presenting information clearly using various media.
  • Ability to: plan and organize work; work with diverse socio-economic backgrounds; communicate to disseminate information to a diverse group of people; follow instructions; maintain professionalism while remaining empathetic and compassionate to the job seeker’s situation; administer tests and measurements; conduct evaluations; learn and apply agency rules, policies, and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Perform case management of clients; research and recommend clients for intensive and various training services including Re-Employment Services which requires in-depth case management and vocational guidance.
  • Screen applicants for eligibility for partner programs and utilize vocational guidance tools to assist applicants with core intensive services; work closely with partners in coordinating services of mutual clients.
  • Perform job search/matching activities for applicants including registration, job referrals and job development.
  • Administer assessment instruments (tests, surveys, etc.) and other planning tools; interpret results and counsel clients.
  • Plan, implement, and present workshops relevant to job seeker needs.
  • Perform data entry and retrieval activities for various programs as necessary.
  • Support the claimant in development of individual reemployment plan.
  • Conduct individual evaluations both in-person and virtually to identify barriers and employment options by establishing work search plans.
  • Provide referral services; determine and review Unemployment Insurance eligibility; schedule, track and log all orientations; document required activities and case notes accurately.
  • Interview claimants to determine continued eligibility for unemployment insurance benefits; identify barriers, verify work search, and refer to reemployment services through One-Stop offices.
  • Prevent and detect UI improper payments.
  • Adhere to State, Nebraska Dept of Labor, Office of Unemployment Insurance policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.
