About The Position

Prof. Gitter of the Economics
Department is looking for a student to work with
him as part of the Norman Leonard Endowed Student Research Grant. The project is investigating the share of pet owners that spend money on veterinary services.

Requirements

• The student should have some experience working with large data sets.

Responsibilities

• The student would take quarterly data on households from the Consumer Expenditure Survey https://www.bls.gov/cex/ and organize it into annual data.
• The survey contains over 5,000 households and the veterinary expenditure data will need to be appended to data on the household’s income and demographic characteristics from the survey.
• The main focus will be on the most recent year’s data but similar analyses will be conducted for earlier years.
