About The Position

ECU Department of Recycling Services is currently seeking a Recycling Intern to work 20 hours per week for $15 per hour. Skills Needed for Success: Attention to detail Strong communication and interpersonal skills Flexibility and adaptability to changing situations Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team Willingness to learn and share knowledge about recycling and waste management The duties for this internship include: The primary focus of this role will be to gather blue bags from campus and transport them to the laydown yard at the Grounds Complex for sorting on a daily basis The intern will enter weekly weights of landfilled waste and materials diverted from the landfill into a tracking spreadsheet for annual reports The intern may be asked to help with waste audit activities for the Green Office Program, Landfill on the Lawn, and other events The intern will help with waste management promotional activities for Campus Race to Zero Waste (February through March), Game Day Recycling Challenge (early March) and Earth Month (April) Creating flyers and content for social media posts and website updates Assisting with implementing, improving waste reduction strategies, and delivering recycling containers

Requirements

  • The intern must have a valid driver's license and clean driving record
  • The intern must have their driving record verified in order to drive a State vehicle prior to the start of the fall semester
  • The intern must have reliable transportation to get to and from the Facilities Services Grounds Complex located at 740 Curry Ct, Greenville, NC 27858
  • The intern must be able to work 4 consecutive hours per day, Monday through Friday, throughout the spring semester
