About The Position

Burr & Forman LLP is seeking a full-time recruiting manager in our Birmingham, AL office to help lead the firm’s summer law clerk program and associate lateral hiring. This position will report directly to the Director of Legal Talent and Development and assist in executing firm-wide recruiting strategies to attract and retain talented law clerks and attorneys. The ideal candidate will be a high-energy communicator and problem solver with at least two years of recruiting or other law firm related experience. This position offers an opportunity to contribute significantly to the legal team while managing a variety of responsibilities. Requirements

  • Two or more years of recruiting or other law firm related experience.
  • A bachelor’s degree and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Highly organized, detail-orientated, proactive with a desire to take ownership as a contributing member of the team.
  • Balance competing priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment, exercising patience and professionalism during stressful situations.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • A high degree of poise, tact, and diplomacy, as well as a professional appearance.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office; knowledge of recruiting software a plus.
  • May include periodically working around standard work hours, particularly during the summer months.
  • Occasional travel may be required.

  • Event management experience with large and specialized events a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and support for the overall planning and implementation of the firm’s law student and associate lateral recruiting initiatives and programs.
  • Lead the firm’s summer law clerk program including coordinating on-campus interviews with law schools, multiple offices, law student applicants, and partners to recruit law students as summer clerks.
  • Collaborate with Burr’s summer recruiting partners and summer recruiting members to build a robust summer calendar with training programs, mentorship opportunities, practical experiences, and social events.
  • In coordination with the Director of Legal Talent and Development, facilitate the recruitment of lateral associates including scheduling interviews, coordinating with candidates, conducting due-diligence, and gathering interview feedback.
  • Help guide Burr’s First-Year Associate experience including meaningful programs, mentorships, and training opportunities.
  • Track and measure key performance indicators such as acceptance rates, hiring sources and market trends.
  • Other responsibilities as needed.
