About The Position

The Recruiter plays a vital role in supporting the success of our communities by attracting, engaging, and retaining top talent across all levels of the organization. In partnership with hiring managers and HR leadership, this position oversees the full candidate and employee lifecycle—from application and interviewing through onboarding. With a strong commitment to equity, inclusion, and culture, the Recruiter ensures fair and consistent hiring practices, enhances the candidate experience, and helps cultivate a welcoming and high-performing workplace. This role also supports community-focused hiring initiatives and represents the company at job fairs and outreach events to strengthen our talent pipeline and reflect the diverse communities we serve. The Recruiter reports to the HR Director and is based at our Home Office in St. Louis, Missouri. Annual salary $60,000, based on experience

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience in full-cycle recruiting, including sourcing, interviewing, selection, and onboarding
  • Ability to manage multiple open requisitions simultaneously while maintaining a positive candidate experience
  • Proficiency using an Applicant Tracking System (ATS) to manage requisitions, candidates, and workflows
  • Experience sourcing candidates through a variety of channels, including job boards, referrals, social media, and networking
  • Strong interviewing and candidate assessment skills
  • Proven ability to build strong, collaborative relationships with hiring managers and HR leadership
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to coach and guide managers through the hiring process and best practices
  • Professional presence when representing the organization internally and externally
  • Working knowledge of employment laws and compliant hiring practices (EEO, ADA, Fair Housing, background screening requirements)
  • Ability to apply consistent, equitable hiring practices across all roles
  • High level of discretion and confidentiality when handling sensitive information
  • Experience coordinating pre-employment screening, background checks, and onboarding processes
  • Ability to prepare offer letters and support equitable compensation discussions within established guidelines

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the development and execution of Mill’s Recruiting Strategy in partnership with HR leadership
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal management teams to understand specific goals, roles and recruiting challenges
  • Utilize knowledge of multiple recruiting sources and execute innovative recruiting strategies to find quality candidates. Proactively source open positions through various means, including job fairs, cold-calling, social media, advertising, searching on-line resume databases, internet postings, networking with professional and community organizations, vocational/technical schools/colleges/universities and referrals, and more
  • Maintain database of candidate records, including active and passive prospects, hired, and other candidate relationships
  • Participate in industry events (SLAA) and conferences to build relationships with potential candidates and stay up-to-date on industry trends
  • Monitor social media presence related to talent acquisition and provide suggestions for improvement as needed
  • Facilitate the interview process and provide hands-on day-to-day recruiting support
  • Provide general assistance to managers on the interviewing/hiring process and the promotion or transfer of current employees to authorized vacancies
  • Conduct job analysis on new or existing jobs; formulate recommendations on placement of the job within the salary structure; write reports and job descriptions
  • Coordinate and manage pre-employment screening processes, including background checks and drug screenings; review results and make final determinations regarding candidate eligibility for hire
  • Collaborate with hiring managers and the Director of HR to calculate and extend equitable compensation offers, ensuring alignment with internal pay structures and market competitiveness
  • Prepare and issue formal offer letters; oversee the onboarding process upon clearance of pre-employment requirements
  • Design and facilitate New Hire Orientation sessions to ensure a smooth and engaging onboarding experience
  • Conduct exit interviews and analyze feedback to identify trends and recommend improvements to the employee experience
  • Serve as the liaison for Indeed, Rippling Recruiting and other vendors as needed
  • Maintain and update onboarding documents, forms, and internal resources to ensure compliance and consistency across all new hire processes
  • Lead the creation and design of recruitment marketing materials for job fairs and hiring events
  • Serve as the Superuser for the Applicant Tracking System (ATS), including configuration, workflow management, and user support to ensure optimal functionality and efficiency
  • Develop and conduct training initiatives for hiring managers, including interview best practices and compliance-focused hiring techniques, to promote consistency and reduce bias in the hiring process
  • Promote utilization of customized interview guides tailored to each position, equipping hiring teams with structured, role-specific questions to ensure a fair and effective evaluation of candidates
  • Provide support on a variety of HR initiatives and special projects as needed, contributing to cross-functional goals and ensuring department-wide alignment
  • Serve as a flexible resource within the HR team, assisting with additional tasks and organizational initiatives to meet evolving business needs
