The Recreation Therapy Supervisor is responsible for the daily leadership and supervision of the Recreation Therapy team. The Recreation Therapy Supervisor is also responsible for the coordination and planning of the therapeutic and recreational activities for the participants of the program. Participant Activities – 75% Conducts an initial assessment and scheduled reassessment of all participants, minimally every 6 months and assessment must be completed prior to scheduled team conference. Communicates participant changes with team members. Coordinates 24 hour care delivery. Develops specific therapeutic programs as part of the plan of care to include recreational and social activities. Records, signs and dates progress reports in the participant’s medical record. Develops, implements and supervises the activity program Plans and provides both group and individual activities. Participates as a member of the Interdisciplinary Team. Attends staff meetings and takes part in participant care planning. communicates any changes in participant condition to team members. Serves as a resource to staff and coordinates volunteer activities at the center. Builds within the center a sense of community and a warm social atmosphere in which participants are able to identify a support system. Participates in QA activities as appropriate. Coordinates with various community resources. Supervision– 25% Effectively supervises and manages direct reports and provides, by example and leadership, motivation and direction to employees of the organization. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable state and federal employment laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; recognizing and rewarding employees; corrective disciplinary procedures and practices (under direction of supervisor and in partnership with Human Resources), addressing complaints and resolving problems. Ensures annual employee performance reviews are conducted in a timely and effective manner. Evaluates performance of employees for compliance with established policies and objectives of the organization and contributions in attaining objectives. Helps set the tone of the department to ensure morale, team work, and that the positive employment culture of the organization is maintained. Regularly schedules leadership/management, department, and staff 1:1 meetings to provide leadership, development, and a forum for communication to ensure coordination and collaboration in meeting organization and individual goals
