About The Position

The Recreation Supervisor, under the direction and supervision of the Superintendent of Recreation, is responsible for planning and implementing a variety of Mature Adult programs as well as Fine and Performing Arts programs. Areas of oversight include the Vogt Visual Arts Gallery, STARS Mature Adult Drop-in Program, Special Events and Trips, Summer Concerts and Movies Series as well as rental of the Tinley Park Performing Arts Center. Maintaining part-time staff by recruiting, selecting, and training is also the responsibility of this position as well as preparing brochure copy and working cooperatively with the Marketing Department to issue program marketing vehicles. Flexible hours are required and include evenings, weekends and some holidays.

Requirements

• Candidates for this position need to be outgoing, organized, flexible and creative.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation or related field and a minimum of two (2) years of experience in a leadership or supervisory capacity - OR - a Master’s Degree in Recreation with one (1) year experience in leadership or supervisory capacity is required
• Excellent (oral and written) communication is required.
• CPR certification is required and must be obtained within six (6) months of hire. Certification must be maintained throughout employment
• Must maintain a valid driver’s license.
• A mandatory physical, drug screening, and criminal background check are required prior to employment.

Nice To Haves

• Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in the Recreation field preferred
• Minimum of two (2) years in Cultural Arts/Special Events environment preferred
• Certified Park and Recreation Professional Certification preferred
• Proficient knowledge and experience in Microsoft Office applications and VSI Rectrac application software preferred.
