He/she functions as a member of the Recreation Department and is a resource to other therapists in his/her area of expertise. He/she is responsible for ensuring that his/her assigned residents receive optimal services from the department

Requirements

Academic credentials including a college degree in Recreation, Music, or Art Therapy and/or related experience.
Develops and maintains good working relationships with other staff.
Effective communication with other staff, medical personnel, residents and their family/significant others, visitors and outside agencies and referral services.
Familiarity with CMS (Medicare System)

Nice To Haves

Computer skills, including Microsoft Office
Casework and group experience
Long-term care facility experience
Prior work experience with geriatric and disabled populations.
Bi-lingual (Spanish)

Responsibilities

Complete assessment of each resident that identifies recreational therapy needs.
Create and implement individual care plans and therapies for each resident.
Document quarterly/annual progress for each resident.
Create Activities Calendar for residents that meets the full range of diversified programs, including: Physical, Social, Intellectual, Creative, Sensory, Spiritual, and Community.
Educate staff regarding the role of the Recreation Therapist.
Participate in the development and review of policies and practices related to Recreation and Recreation Therapy.
Understand and meet all government requirements, including documentation, certification, continuing education, and reporting.
Maintain confidentiality of all information.
Maintain full documentation and complete all administrative requirements as required.
