About The Position

The Idaho Youth Ranch is one of the oldest non-profit agencies in the state of Idaho. Our mission: We unite for Idaho’s youth by providing accessible programs and services that nurture hope, healing, and resilience. How will you impact our mission? Successful candidates will have a once-in-a-career opportunity to be a part of our new Residential Center for Healing and Resilience, a 64-bed psychiatric residential treatment facility (PRTF) for youth at our beautiful 258-acre Hands of Promise Campus in Idaho’s Treasure Valley. As a Recreational Therapist, you will be directly involved in nurturing the hope, healing, and resilience for the youth in our care at the RCHR. You will be a force for positive change in a young person’s life when they need it most. Our Recreational Therapists: Develops and establishes recreational programs of a therapeutic nature suited to the physical and mental capabilities of clients Designs individual treatment programs Coordinates the recreational therapy program with other disciplines Maintains progress notes and individual records; prepares reports and conducts correspondence Available via cell phone and on call 24/7

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in therapeutic recreation, education or related field and two years’ experience in therapeutic recreation
  • Licensed in Idaho to practice as a Recreational Therapist
  • Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist or eligible for the exam from the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification
  • A valid Idaho’s driver’s license or obtain one within 15 days of hire, as a condition of continued employment
  • Be at least 25 years of age

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in education
  • Five years’ experience in therapeutic recreation
