Reporting directly to the Recreation Division Manager, the Recreation Manager is an integral leader within the Culture, Parks, and Recreation Department’s Recreation Division. Working collaboratively with a second Recreation Manager, this position will divide responsibilities based on experience and strengths, with each Recreation Manager overseeing three (3) of the following areas: Family FunPlex, Recreation Center, Active Adult Center, Youth and Adult Sports and Adaptive Recreation Programs, Ice Haus, and Rodarte Community Center and Youth Enrichment Program. The Recreation Manager provides visionary leadership and direction to assigned staff and operations. This position directly supervises three (3) Recreation Supervisors and indirectly oversees Recreation Coordinators, Customer Service Representatives, and a large seasonal workforce (including over 150 part-time employees and volunteers). The Recreation Manager is responsible for operational excellence, customer experience, risk management, budgeting and performance measures, and researching and implementing innovative ideas to improve facilities, services, and programming. This role requires a combination of education and progressively responsible recreation leadership experience, including personnel leadership, facility and program operations, budgeting/cost recovery, customer service, and the ability to maintain working knowledge of commonly used recreation and business software.
