About The Position

Requirements

• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent, and five years of demonstrated recovery experience and/or engaged in a recovery network, Crisis Intervention Training (CIT), policing, mental health, substance use or other social service experience; or a bachelor’s degree; or a total of five years’ experience and college combined; or a Certified Peer Specialist (CPS) for Missouri Services, Certified Recovery Support Specialist (CRSS) or Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (CPRS) for Illinois Services, or a Certified Alcohol & Drug Counselor (CADC) in good standing with the applicable state.
• Must have a valid driver’s license, private automobile insurance and be insurable.
• Requires basic computer skills and experience to include MS Word, MS Excel, Outlook and an electronic medical record (EMR).

Responsibilities

• Engage clients in services prior to their treatment.
• Help individuals to identify personal strengths and barriers to achieving treatment and recovery goals and to develop natural supports and sobriety-based activities to support long-term recovery.
• Consult and encourage clients on concerns and achievements presented during the recovery process.
• Link clients to recovery communities and ancillary services.
• Coordinate services with treatment team and other supports.
• Promote the recovery model of treatment including trauma-informed care, hope, respect, empowerment, health/wellness, and spirituality/connectedness.
