East Mississippi Correctional Facility located in Meridian, MS., is now hiring career-minded people to assist with securing the safety of our community while positively impacting the lives of those on the inside. Job responsibilities: Reports to the designated supervisor. Responsible for central communications and performs related clerical tasks in compliance with Management & Training Corporation (MTC) and Mississippi Department of Corrections (MDOC) directives. Essential Functions: Route incoming and inter-office calls and make connections with outside lines for outgoing calls. Place long-distance calls and keep a record of all long-distance calls, outgoing and incoming reversed charge calls. Keep a directory of telephone extensions for assigned personnel; update and maintain the facility directory. Type correspondence, reports, and letters; proofread material to verify accuracy. Maintain records, files, and appropriate office supplies. Operate office equipment such as copiers, fax machines, computers, and scanners. Under the warden’s direction, order, and coordinate communication services. Greet and direct visitors to the proper office; notify appropriate staff of visitors or guests; ensure sign-in procedures are in place. Log and distribute incoming mail, and prepare outgoing mail. Promote the development of positive social skills through modeling appropriate behaviors and intervening when inappropriate behaviors are observed; provide regular feedback to staff regarding social skills procedures and intervention techniques. Maintain accountability of offenders and property; adhere to safety practices. It is expected that the incumbent shall perform other duties as assigned within his/her capabilities as determined by management.
