About The Position

The Receiving Inspector is responsible for quality assurance of incoming raw materials. Who are we? Founded in 1849, Ducommun is the oldest company in California. Starting as a hardware supply store during the California Gold Rush and eventually assisted in the birth of the aerospace industry in Southern California by providing aircraft aluminum to early aerospace pioneers like Lindbergh, Douglas and Lockheed. We specialize in electronic and structural systems, producing complex products and components for commercial aircraft platforms, mission-critical military and space programs, and sophisticated industrial applications. Our Facility in Appleton, WI manufactures state-of-the-art circuit boards for Aerospace and Defense as well as Industrial and Medical Industries.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma.
  • Strong computational skills with the ability to conceptualize and understand technical reports, data, drawings, etc.
  • Intermediate level computer proficiency, including proficient with Microsoft Office – Outlook and Excel.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to multi-task and handle multiple projects.
  • Able to work with a high level of accuracy and with minimal supervision.
  • Abilities listed in General Requirements of Team Members.
  • Proficient use of inspection tools and associated technical documents including but not limited to the following: scope with light, in-process work sheets, drawings, specifications sheets, bills of material, a variety of jigs and fixtures for examining components and assemblies and calibrated measuring rules.
  • Knowledge of AS9102.
  • Good knowledge of electronic components.
  • Knowledge of required standards, as identified in training matrix, including ISO and Mil Specs.

Nice To Haves

  • Certified to IPC-A-600 is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Perform first piece / first article inspections of raw materials.
  • Perform receiving inspection on raw materials per documentation and recording results.
  • Inspect a variety of electronic components such as printed circuit boards, connectors and a variety of molded parts.
  • Ensure all required paperwork is received and previous operations indicated on the documents are completed in accordance with established procedures prior to conducting an inspection.
  • Reject non-conforming material and create NCMR paperwork.
  • May provide on-the-job-training (OJT) for other inspectors.
  • Responsible for the proper handling of electronic components.
  • Use tools such as a caliper and pin gauge to measure the necessary requirements.
  • Operate equipment to test material with the use of X-ray Florence (XRF).
  • Use of magnification aid to inspect electronic components.
  • Perform other assignments as required
