About The Position

The Receiving Clerk is responsible for maintaining inventory counts and quality control procedures for incoming and outgoing product shipments. They are responsible for organizing walk-in refrigerators and performing food inventories, working as a part of the culinary and dispatch teams.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent is desired
  • Previous kitchen receiving experience and product knowledge preferred
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and emails
  • Experience in Microsoft suite specifically excel is required
  • Ability to write simple correspondence
  • Ability to effectively email or correspond information to Purchasing Manager
  • Demonstrated ability to work with a minimum of supervision
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic mathematical skills
  • Working knowledge of all applicable sanitation requirements is required
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-energy atmosphere and have a positive attitude is needed
  • Ability to take directions and work in a team environment
  • Ability to read and speak English may be required to perform the duties of the job
  • Ability to stand most of the shift.
  • Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds without assistance.
  • Any object weighing more than 50 pounds will require assistance.

Responsibilities

  • Receive produce deliveries and check order for completeness upon arrival, assuring no damaged or subpar items are accepted
  • Inventory coolers and supplies daily and write produce orders as needed
  • Provide accurate counts and locations of incoming goods
  • Compare packing lists to company purchase orders to ensure that the products in each delivery match the list
  • Ensure all food storage areas are in a safe and sanitary condition. This includes shelving and floors in walk-in coolers, freezers, and dry goods storage areas
  • Update product inventory as new items are received
  • Ensure assigned equipment is maintained to safety and sanitation standards
  • Ensure quality, freshness, selection, and adequate quantity to meet business needs
  • In the absence of the Purchasing Manager, prepare accurate and detailed Kitchen Purchase Orders for chemicals, food, beverages, equipment, and cleaning supplies
  • Transport food to the assigned storage area, following all sanitation requirements
  • Notes shortages and non-optimal product conditions and notifies supervisor
  • Assists the Kitchen Purchasing Manager with accurate end of the month inventories
  • Performs other duties associated with the position that are reasonably assigned to support the overall needs of the business
